Cram schools prepare lawsuit against Korean Government
2021.05.12

On December 8, Korean government enforced Level 2.5 social distancing
(for the capital region and Level 2 for other areas until Dec. 28, 2020)
due to the increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases.
This surely brought a big impact to the business owners nationwide.

The government ordered cram schools (학원) and private educational institutions to shut their doors.
For this, cram schools are preparing a class-action lawsuit against the government.
Directors of cram schools think that they have been treated unfairly by being forced to close their business.
They said the government made the announcement in a surprise that they could not prepare anything ahead.

However, the Education Ministry (교육부) official said this limitation was made
to warn of the virus spreading among the younger population.
